Job Purpose

1. Design and build complex data pipelines for sourcing data from upstream applications into the enterprise warehouse for all future data intensive analytics.
2. Understands and appreciates the data, data lineage, data quality and is able to build appropriate checks to ensure a future ready data platform for IBGT.
3. Design and build tools and automations that scale critical business processes.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build /adopt frameworks and methodologies to deliver scalable, performant and reliable solutions.
5. Communicate with internal customers, keep them informed and cater to their needs.
6. Able to work in highly dynamic and fast paced environment and shows maturity and leadership when dealing with ambiguity and is able to seek clarity for the team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. As a Data Engineering Lead developer, for Corporate Banking Group Technology you will help design and build scalable and performant metadata driven complex data pipelines, data quality frameworks etc using the tools and methodologies adopted by the bank from time to time.   
2. You will apply and invent state-of-the-art technologies to enable scaling and faster pace of execution in order to facilitate availability of good quality data on time for all it’s consumers.
3. You are expected to work with cross-functional teams and are able to execute well in a fast-paced and agile environment.
4. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets etc and derive intelligent processing and batch scheduling.
5. Must have hands on experience in Big Data ecosystem – Hadoop (MapReduce, YARN2.0, Zookeeper etc), Hive, Impala, Alluxio etc. with good knowledge on performance tuning and distributed computing using PySpark or MR.

6. Must have good knowledge of Unix Shell and Shell Scripting.
7. Must have worked on one or more batch scheduling tools and created CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment etc.
8. Be able to perform multiple roles seamlessly as required viz. Business Analyst, Solution Architect and Developer based on the requirement.
9. You should drive the data strategy inline with the IBGT management vision.
10. You should drive best practices and ensure adoption without disruption.
11. Be a self-starter and must exhibit full sense of ownership of the platform you work on.

Required Experience:

1. BA in MIS or CIS, BS in Computer Science or related field
2. Must have good working knowledge Unix, Hadoop (MR, YARN2.0), Datastores  like Hive, Alluxio and programming using HQL, Python (v3.6).
3. Strong ability to comprehend complex data processing jobs and should be able to write or rewrite a better and performant code.
4. Ability to work in a high paced, global environment
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
6. Ability to learn new concepts, frameworks and apply them to develop cutting edge solutions.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills 
8. Good knowledge of dimensional warehouse data modeling, databases (SQL & No SQL) and data integration frameworks.
9. Exposed to Bigdata / Hadoop technology ecosystem (viz frameworks involving Ingestion, DQ, Computation)
10. Aware of the industry trends with “big data” and analytical space – tools & Technology.
11. Excellent collaboration and teamwork – ability to work cross functions and lead squads.
12. Experience on a data engineering project in complex banking environment will be a big plus.

Core Competencies:

1. Work within data engineering team with hands-on skills including (and not limited to) – Unix, Hadoop (MR, YARN2.0), Datastores – Hive, Alluxio and programming using HQL, Python (v3.6).
2. Worked on at least one Batch Scheduling and Monitoring tools in an enterprise environment.
3. Develop consistent, scalable and easy to replicate solutions that can run in auto-pilot with minimal manual intervention.
4. Approach work with an inquisitive mindset, deriving intuitive solutions to complex business use cases.
5. Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
6. Experience with R and ML frameworks will be added advantage.
