Job Description for Caterpillar Jobs 2021
- Responsible for design and development of battery systems / sub-systems / related components.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Design and development of battery pack and rack systems and components to meet functional, reliability and durability goals.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and process partners to understand and document the requirements.
- Perform design calculations, initiate ideas and create design concepts using Creo.
- Evaluate design concepts using Creo Simulate, Bolted Joint Analysis and Tolerance Stack Up analysis.
- Provide solutions, perform virtual design review audit (VDRA) and work with manufacturing plants to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
- Prepare design failure model and effect analysis (DFMEA) and develop design verification plan (DVP) to validate the solution.
- Review prints and execute APQP with supplier for the development of components.
- Work with simulation team to plan and deliver simulation activity.
- Prepare technical reports and conduct design reviews with the stakeholders.
- Resolve technical issues during prototype, pilot and production phases of product development lifecycle.
- Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams in a concise and accurate manner.
- Co-ordinate with validation/test engineers to evaluate the performance/durability of battery pack and rack systems and components.
- Provide technical support to quality, purchasing during part development.
- Need to manage supplier, manufacturing & product groups.
- Perform product maintenance in support of Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) – Factory CPI and field CPI issues.

Caterpillar Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 6+ years’ experience in the design and development of Lithium-Ion battery packs, Energy Storage Systems, EVs, hybrid etc.
- Design experience related to structures and sheet metal installations will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills couple with good project management skills.
- Ability to perform analysis tasks using Creo simulate will be an advantage.
- Willingness to travel domestic/international up to 10% when job role requires.
