AICTE has issued a notice, wherein, it has instructed all colleges & institutions to not to insist the students pay the fees, including the admission fees.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, the lockdown has been extended till May 3 and may get extended, depending upon the current scenario in our country.
On account of such National Emergency due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, AICTE has official issued notice on regards of
- Payment of Fees, Payment of Salary to Faculty Members, Discouraging Fake News, Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme(PMSSS), Online Classes & Semester Examination, Internships and Sharing of Internet Bandwith with other Colleges/Institutions.

Payment of Fees:
“lt has come to the knowledge of AICTE, that certain standalone institutions are insisting that students should pay the fees, including admission fees, during the lockdown.”, according to the letter to all AICTE approved institutions from the AICTE Member Secretary Prof. Rajive Kumar. “lt is clarified that colleges/institutions should not insist on payment of fees till the ongoing lockdown is lifted and normalcy is restored. Further guidelines in this regard for communicating the revised timelines will be issued by AICTE in due course. Accordingly, all colleges/institutions are directed to display this information on their website and also communicate the same to the students through email.”
Online Classes & Semester Examinations:
All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) and University Grants Commission(UGC) will soon release the latest academic calendar.
Regarding the conduct of semester examinations, Prof.Kumar has clarified that UGC has constituted a committee for recommending the modalities to conduct the examinations, the award of marks and passing criteria in examinations.

Internships:
“It is also clarified that some students would not be able to pursue their summer internship due to the ongoing lockdown. Hence, they are advised to pursue internships from home. ln case, if the same is not feasible, this requirement may be fulfilled in December 2020.”, said the letter.
Payment of salary to faculty members:
AICTE has got the news that various institutions are have not paid a salary to their faculty & staff members, for the duration of lockdown. Also, various institutions have terminated their faculty members, amid the lockdown.
“lt is clarified that salary and other dues to the faculty/staff members will be released for the duration of lockdown and also terminations, if any, made during the lockdown will be withdrawn. Hence, the same may be strictly complied with.”
Due to this, A letter has also being issued to respective Chief Secretaries of all States/UT including reimbursement of fees to colleges/institutions.
Discouraging Fake News:
