Job Description for Red Hat Off Campus Drive 2023:
- Use your Linux knowledge and skills to design and carry out tests
- Identify issues that might affect performance, stability, and interoperability
- Work with developers to investigate issues
- Design, develop and maintain automated test suites
- Use Ansible/Python/pytest to implement integration tests
- Automate the testing with CI/CD services, e.g. Testing Farm and Packit
- You’ll work on an upstream open source project in GitHub – your test contributions will be visible to anyone including the community and customers
- Extend the number of supported RHEL clones, which can be converted to RHEL (e.g. CentOS, Oracle Linux, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux)
- Testing of applications run on converted systems (e.g. MS SQL-based applications)
- Prototype and present your ideas; communicate with other team members
- Work in a cross-functional team together with other software engineers, quality engineers, product and project managers to apply the implementation of those features and processes to the specific software products.
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies and development methodologies
Skills Required For Red Hat Off Campus Drive 2023
- Moderate Python skills (Basic OOP, exception handling, decorators, list comprehension, generators, with-statement)
- Basic Bash scripting skills (using string variables, defining and calling functions, using if/elif/else conditions and while/for loops)
- Basic git skills (clone existing project, work with multiple branches, rebase and merge) and ability to contribute to a git project hosted on Github like service
- Familiar with CI e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions
- Experienced Linux power user or good orientation in general Linux system administration; ability to accomplish basic administrative tasks in the terminal, e.g., install packages, work with file systems etc., familiarity with basic text processing utilities like grep, sed, etc.
- Understanding of the linux architecture, boot process, services, logs, etc.
- Quality and detail-oriented thinking, understanding customer perspective, good debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of an agile team, follow clean code practices, and quickly absorb new knowledge
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience with testing is a plus
