The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called the “Grow Green” Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

  • We are looking for a talented individual to work in GGGI’s New Delhi office to support communication activities for Narmada Landscape Restoration Project. The Intern will help the PMU in developing high quality communication material, reports and knowledge products. She/he will support the PMU in engaging with different stakeholders like government officials, USAID, IIFM, NTPC Ltd and private sector entities from Indore. The Program description and output details are provided below:

ABOUT THE PROJECT

NLRP is an India Partnerships Program (IPP) jointly implemented by the GGGI & Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal. USAID & NTPC Ltd are IPP resource partners providing a matching contribution to NLRP.

This four-year project, to be implemented from June 2020 to June 2024, seeks to improve the quantity and quality of water in selected river Narmada tributaries between Omkareshwar and Maheshwar Dams in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh through inclusive and sustainable landscape management interventions. By demonstrating the causal relationship between sustainable landscape management practices in the upstream with quantity and quality of water resources in the downstream, the project results will encourage stakeholders to participate in enhanced ecosystem services through an incentivization mechanism. 

The project has three main objectives:

  • To develop capacities and provide incentives for sustainable landscape management for local communities in the upland watershed (north and south bank).
  • To create awareness of the importance of ecosystem services and sustainable landscapes management.
  • To develop an incentivization mechanism based on the landscape management practices. 

GGGI is seeking a Communication Intern who will join the PMU to support in project outreach activities through project communication materials, knowledge products, stakeholder meetings, event management and all other supporting tasks for the NLRP.

SCOPE OF WORK

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate/postgraduate within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to GGGI’s work.
  • Possess an excellent command of English.
  • Preferably from the field of Media and Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting or an academic field related to green growth and sustainability.
  • Experience in designing of high-quality communication materials, knowledge products, engagement with stakeholders and event management and other outreach activities.
  • Excellent English writing skills is an advantage.
  • Ability to work/deliver under time pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Preference will be given to female candidates

SELECTION PROCESS

GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, the relevance of the academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months.
  • Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location. Project related travels will be borne by GGGI.
  • Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
  • Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
  • Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
  • Working Hours: Interns are expected to work during normal working hours which is five days a week (40 hours week). Leave should be pre-approved by the Senior Project Officer.
  • Learning Outcomes: Before completion of the internship, Senior Project Officer will review the learning outcomes with the intern.
  • Certificate: Based on request, it will be provided upon successful completion of the internship.
