5 Things to keep in mind during your college life
College can be one of the best years of your life or can also turn out to be the worst. It’s the age where you have newfound freedom and you can put that to use in either a good or a bad way. In this article, I will be opening up a few things for you, that I wish someone would have told me when I was starting my college days
1. Attending Lectures
Attended a party last night? Have a hangover? All that sounds fun but it’s not worth missing your lectures. Whatever course you are doing, it is necessary to attend lectures and physically listen to your teachers to understand concepts.
Students say that they have textbooks and YouTube to study then why they need to attend lectures but when teachers are teaching, they are imparting knowledge from their experience and they are going to open up a lot of doors for you.
No matter how good the party or how famous your friend group is, it’s not worth missing your lectures.
2. Choosing your friend circle
Everyone is excited to make new friends in college. We as humans are social animals. In college especially, everyone wants to be a part of the “cool gang”. I don’t know about your college but in most colleges, the cool gang consists of people partying, bunking lectures, and chilling life.
Not saying that doing all of that is wrong. Choosing the right set of people is very important because these people have the potential to become one of the most important people in your life. They might become your inner circle and you don’t want that to be toxic.
3. Finding Balance
It is very important for a student to find balance. You need to find a balance between the party animal and the always studying nerd.
Your college life is going to be some of the best years of your life and you don’t want to miss out on the fun.
Take trips with friends, bunk some boring lectures, find love, build your network but don’t do all of this at the cost of your studies. It becomes very easy to get busy with all the other activities and forget why you are actually there but you are in the college to get educated don’t ever let that out of your mind.
4. Participate in college festivals and events
Most teachers will call this a waste of time but participating in festivals is one of the most interesting and fun experiences in your life.
You are going to learn a lot during this time.
From learning how to work in a team to building your network, it is going to benefit you a lot.
At a festival, you are going to meet a lot of people, like-minded people. These people are going to help you grow in your personal as well as professional life.
5. Keep a track of your spending
We live in India and it is common to make money from our parents in our college days. Just because we are getting free money doesn’t mean you should spend it all and keep asking for more.
Make a budget to limit for yourself, and save some money. Invest it, instead of spending needlessly.
There are some paid events and internship opportunities that will come your way, take it. You will not only gain some experience but will also get some extra cash in your pocket which you can use wisely.
Here were 5 tips that I wish someone would have told me when I was starting in my college days. Just know that it is never too late and you can still inculcate all of this even in the last year of your college.
