There is a great expectation among GATE 2022 students that the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2022 will be postponed due to a spike in Covid 19 and omicron cases.
Around 8 lakh applicants are anticipated to sit for the GATE 2022 exam this year. Out of the 8 lakh students, 23000 have signed a petition asking for the exam to be postponed till the third wave of Covid 19 is completed.

According to the online petition, “If exam dates are not postponed, candidates appearing for GATE 2022 will run at risk of getting infected and spreading it. By this, it will be a threat to our lives as well as our family members’ lives.“
As per the GATE Exam Official Committee, the GATE 2022 exam will be held on February 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th, and exam hall tickets have already been distributed. According to IIT Kanpur Report, the number of estimates for increased cases of covid-19 and omicron is released day by day, with the peak of Covid 19 projected in February and the third wave ending in April 2022.
The premier institute has stated that all students taking part in GATE 2022 should be completely vaccinated.

However, students taking the GATE 2022 exam should study because there are yet any signs that the exam would be postponed. The committee will issue an announcement if there is any news of a postponement.
Students who pass the exam will be able to enroll in MTech programs at IITs and IISERs, as well as apply for positions in PSUs, based on their scores and interview rounds. The GATE score is valid for three years after the announcement of the results. Students who are taking the GATE exam can get their admit cards through gate.iitkgp.ac.in. When reaching the center during the day of the exam, they must provide a printout of their hall ticket or they will not be permitted to take the exam. GATE 2022 will be held in batches of 29 subjects.
